Site index prediction model for Gmelina arborea plantation forest at Pasir Mandoge North Sumatra

Abstract
This research was aimed to finding site index prediction model for Gmelina arborea plantation at Pasir Mandoge North Sumatera. The contruction of the model was based on the relationship between upperheight and age of the stand. Data were collected through measuring 24 experimental plot taken in plantation of 5 – 8 years old in North Sumatera. Data processing with non linear regression analysis and least square method produced the following model : log SI = log H – 0,809 (A-1- 8-1) where SI : site index; H : upperheight; A : age (years), and 8 : age index (years); for site index prediction. Determination coefisien (R2), aggregate difference (AgD) and average of percentage deviation (AvD) of this site index model is 86.1%, 0.798, and 7.63, respectively.

MODEL PENAKSIRAN INDEKS TEMPAT TUMBUH HUTAN TANAMAN Gmelina arborea DI PASIR MANDOGE SUMATERA UTARA

Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyusun model penduga kualitas (indeks) tempat tumbuh hutan tanaman Gmelina arborea di Pasir Mandoge Sumatera Utara. Penyusunan model didasarkan pada hubungan antara peninggi dan umur tegakan. Data dikumpulkan melalui pengukuran 24 pot penelitian berukuran 0,1 ha yang dibangun pada tegakan berumur 5 – 8 tahun. Pengolahan data dengan menggunakan analisis regresi non linear dan metoda kuadrat terkecil menghasilkan model: log SI = log H – 0,809 (A-1- 8-1) dimana SI : indeks tempat tumbuh; H : peninggi (m); A : umur tegakan (tahun), and 8 : umur indeks; untuk menduga kualitas tempat tumbuh. Model ini cukup handal dengan koefisien determinasi (R2), simpangan agregat (AgD) dan rata-rata persentase simpangan (AvD) adalah 86,1%, 0,798, dan 7,63, berturut-turut.
